Terms of Service
Last updated: April 27, 2026
Welcome to Nom. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Nom ("Nom," "we," "us") and govern your use of the Nom mobile app, this website, and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
- You must have a valid
@g.ucla.eduemail address to create a personal account. - You must be at least 13 years old.
- One account per person. Verified club accounts are issued by Nom and are subject to additional rules communicated at the time of issuance.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your profile up to date.
2. Your account
- Your account is personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for everything that happens under it, including content you post and transactions you arrange.
- Keep your sign-in credentials confidential. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us at support@nom-app.com.
- For verified club accounts, the display name is locked once the account is set up; changes require Nom to make them on your behalf.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or harm other users.
3. User content
You retain ownership of the photos, text, listings, and other content you post on the Service ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant Nom a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify (e.g., resize images), display, and distribute your User Content within the Service and in materials promoting the Service.
You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to post your User Content and that it does not violate any law or third-party right. We may remove User Content at any time at our discretion.
4. Marketplace
The Nom marketplace is a venue that connects UCLA students who want to buy, sell, or give away items. Nom is not a party to any transaction. Nom does not process payments, hold funds, ship items, verify the condition of items, or guarantee that any sale will be completed. All payments and exchanges happen directly between buyers and sellers.
You are solely responsible for:
- The accuracy of your listings and the legality of the items you list.
- Any taxes owed on your transactions.
- Choosing safe, public meet-up locations and conducting yourself safely.
- Resolving disputes with the other party. Nom is not obligated to mediate, refund, or compensate either side.
Prohibited items. You may not list, offer, or solicit:
- Weapons, firearms, ammunition, or weapon parts.
- Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia.
- Alcohol or tobacco to anyone under the legal age, or in violation of any law.
- Stolen goods, counterfeit goods, or recalled products.
- Academic dishonesty material — exam answers, ghostwritten essays, completed coursework for sale, or anything that violates UCLA's academic integrity rules.
- Live animals.
- Anything that violates UCLA policy or California or federal law.
We may remove listings or suspend accounts at our discretion. Repeat or serious violations may result in permanent termination and reporting to UCLA or law enforcement.
5. Events
Events posted on Nom are organized by individual users or verified clubs. Nom does not run, sponsor, host, or supervise any event and is not responsible for what happens at an event.
- Hosts are responsible for the accuracy of event details, the conduct of their event, securing any required permits, and complying with all applicable laws and UCLA policies.
- Attendees agree to behave lawfully, respect other attendees, and follow the host's reasonable instructions.
- Events involving alcohol must comply with applicable law. You may not invite or admit anyone under the legal drinking age to events serving alcohol.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, dox, defame, or discriminate against any person.
- Post hate speech, sexually explicit content, or content that exploits or endangers minors.
- Spam, scam, phish, or use the Service to defraud anyone.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any organization.
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent the
@g.ucla.eduverification, the club code system, or any other access control. - Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the Service without our written permission.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or interfere with the operation of the Service.
- Use the Service to violate any law or the rights of any third party.
7. Reporting and moderation
If you see content or behavior that violates these Terms, use the in-app report flow or email support@nom-app.com. We review reports and may remove content, warn users, or terminate accounts at our discretion. We are not obligated to monitor the Service, and our failure to act on any particular report does not waive our right to act later.
8. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if continuing to provide the Service to you would harm Nom or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including User Content license, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that listings, events, profiles, dining information, or any other content on the Service is accurate, complete, or current. Public data sources we rely on may change without notice.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Nom and its operators, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. This includes — without limitation — disputes between users, transactions arranged through the marketplace, and incidents at events. To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim related to the Service is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Nom and its operators harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of: (a) your User Content; (b) your transactions or interactions with other users, including marketplace sales and event attendance; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any law or third-party right.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
14. Independence
Nom is independent and is not affiliated with the University of California, ASUCLA, UCLA Housing, UCLA Dining, or any other UCLA service or department.
